CRUISE REVIEW - ROYAL CARIBBEANViva La Caribbean! Imagine visiting a sunny deserted beach in the Bahamas, the natural beaches of St Maarten, and the rhythms of caribbean music flavoured with local rum, and you've begun to understand why a recent Cruise on Royal Caribbean's "Radiance of the Seas" was so spectacular.
This was our third cruise, but we weren't ready for the scale of the Port of Miami Cruise terminal! On the Sunday of our early December departure, there were seven (yes count them), seven major cruise ships nose to tail at Miami, ready for departure!
Each ship would have been the size of the Sapphire Princess which recently visited Australia.
We calculated that close to 35,000 passengers and crew were processed at Miami that afternoon - and our embarkation was smooth as silk. RCI really has it down to an art.
We took the Eastern Caribbean 7 day cruise - Coco Cay (Bahamas), St Thomas (US Virgin Is), St Maarten (half Dutch/half French territory).
The weather was superb, the food spectacular (we gained 7 kgs). The kids club was a bit ordinary, but the service on the ship was excellent.
The 7 day western Caribbean on RCI is next on the horizon!
