Star Clippers

Offering adventure with comfort, Star Clippers cruise the Caribbean, Mediterranean and Asia aboard the swiftest and largest clipper ships ever built.

Clipper ships, built for speed and undeniably romantic, enjoyed their heyday in the 19th century before steam engines and iron hulls became the norm. Names like Cutty Sark and Flying Cloud became synonymous with high seas adventure and romance.

The Star Clipper Experience

Today Star Clippers three ships recreate a sense of adventure and when under full sail they are a stunning sight. Star Flyer and Star Clipper are powered by 36,000 square feet of sail from four masts, including five giant square sails on the foremast.

The 5,000-ton Royal Clipper is the largest, and most beautiful, full-rigged clipper ship ever built. She has 56,000 sq. feet of sails and masts reaching a height of 197 feet. Carrying 227 passengers and a crew of 106, Royal Clipper has a spa and health club and a three-deck atrium with circular staircase. A full 19,000 square feet of open deck and three small pools invite languid days and nights beneath the sails and stars. Imagine the envious stares you'll get when sailing majestically out of Nice or Barbados!

Overall the experience is quite casual, and salty enough to make you feel like a real sailor. You can get hands on if you wish, helping out the crew, climbing the masts and joining the captain on the bridge.

Passenger Profile

You’ll find a number of late 20 something couples, but the majority of passengers will be well travelled couples in their forties to sixties. All will be active and appreciate a casual yet sophisticated atmosphere.

Children's Programs

There are no special children’s facilities, but you will often find a number of older kids on board - and they love it.
