Norwegian Jewel - Mediterranean

Posted 19 Oct 2006

Dear Les,

We have just returned from our wonderful holiday on the Norwegian Jewel in Greece, Egypt and Turkey.

I wanted to thank you for all your arrangements, everything went smoothly and we appreciate that greatly.

For the report on the trip:

1. Norwegian Jewel was beautiful and very tastefully furnished. I would rate it just as good as the Carnival Spirit from last year. Our balcony cabin was just marginally smaller than the one we had on Carnival Spirit last year, (for your info), but the hospitality, meals and selection of meals was great.  We particularly enjoyed the Freestyle of cruising (this means we don;t have a regular dinner sitting at a set time).  We were able to freely choose what time we dined and if we wanted to sit on our own that also was no problem. From what we could see of the inside and outside cabins, they appeared a little smaller than the balcony, so would recommend the balcony definitely.   We spent a lot of time sightseeing from it not to mention the fresh air.

As for the destinations, the hotel Divani Palace in Greece was lovely with every amenity you could wish for and very close walking distance to the Acropolis.  The itinerary for the trip was ideal with the cruise being just long enough.  Although Egypt was dirty I loved it and the  highlight of the trip was the Pyramids and Santorini.  Istanbul was fabulous and got some great shopping in as well as a Turkish  carpet which set us back a bit, (might have to miss a holiday for next year to pay it off.).  Our hotel in Istanbul also was very quaint and in the old quarter close walking distance to Blue Mosque and Grand Bazaar.

Once again, thank you for all the organising.  Our next cruise we hope to do would be South America from Santiago to Buenos Aires or Rio (and even incorporating Antarctica) if you can find one for us. Or, Norwegian Fjords including Iceland.
Keep in touch, warm regards, Kim and Rod Venaglia
