CRUISE REVIEW - PACIFIC SKY

Posted 8 Sep 05

I just got back from 23 August sailing from brisbane to noumea, isle de pines, ovea, mystery island and port vila, this was my 3rd Pacific Sky cruise and by far the best.

The islands were all fantastic especially ovea. We were an inaugural call, and it helped that the weather was fantastic most of the time. We had 1 rainy day in the afternoon at mystery island but it cleared up for the island nite celabrations. The ship was immaculate, the Captain Stefano Raviera loves this ship, he does a walk thru every day and has a chat with all passengers and gets his photo taken if they ask, he invited us up to the bridge. James Ibriham and his off-sider Michael were are scream and great cruise directors even if they recycle their jokes. The usual shipboard activities - perfect match, marriage game, celebrity heads and such then there were the entertainers patricio rodrigrues a mexican singer fantastic and ugly dave grey who was very sick but he still managed to do one show.

The food I thought has improved. Dinners were italian nite welcome dinner, french etc, very good quality seeing they have to serve 1000 people. The wine waiters have dissapeared in dining room, wine started at about $18 per bottle, lunches on deck were always pretty good, although I prefer to eat in the dining room. There are also themed buffets as well. I spoke to the maitre de mario propato who had only been on board 2 trips and was leaving at end of following cruise he told me they will probably reintroduce alacarte in dining rooms for breakfast and lunch. Also had a fantastic seafood platter with him and 2 fine ladies who shall remain nameless at rossis in port vila, go there if you ever get the chance their tusker beer in vila is pretty good too. By the way the ships perfume and duty free booze is reasonably priced nowadays don't buy any duty free in australia buy it on ship or port vila where it is even cheaper.

Any way jump on this ship if you get the chance you won't regret it.

ps thanks to CruiseMart for your efficient service and most importantly great deals
